Unexpected Contents in a Home Parcel
As reported by Justyna Pasieczyńska, the spokesperson for the Head of the National Revenue Administration, during a routine check of air parcels, treasury employees came across a package whose contents were supposed to be entirely different. "Clothes were declared, but the package contained only one T-shirt and a one-liter jar of resin," explains Pasieczyńska. Further laboratory tests revealed that the resin contained a high concentration of THC, the main psychoactive component of marijuana. The secured substance could have been used to prepare several thousand dealer's doses.
Findings in the Apartment and Serious Charges
Further actions by the police led to a search of the detained man's apartment. There, marijuana and hashish were also found, which could have been used for several doses of narcotics. "The man was charged with attempting to smuggle a significant amount of narcotics and possession of drugs," informs Dariusz Świderski, the press officer of the airport police commander. Based on the evidence gathered, the prosecutor applied for the suspect's temporary detention for three months, which was approved by the court.
This case highlights the growing problem of using international air parcels for drug smuggling and is an example of the effective cooperation of various law enforcement agencies in Poland in combating international drug crime.
